Letters to the American farmer [manuscript], 1820-1847.

The bulk of the collection consists of five letters from Cocke to John Stuart Skinner, editor of the American farmer, concering agricultural experiments, methods of plowing, the ravages of the Hessian fly and peach wasp, and the opening of the University of Virginia. The collection also contains a letter, ca. 1820, from Skinner, presumably to Robert Oliver, about livestock breeding, and extracts, 1847, from the Salt Springs, West Virginia, register book.
